Muscle testing / muscle monitoring: a biofeedback tool for health

Muscle testing used in physiotherapy or traditional structural Kinesiology test the strength of muscles on a scale from 0 (no facilitation) to 5 (full strength) with the help of a dynometer. In energetic kinesiology, I don't test the muscles strength but I use the neurological aspects of muscle testing – why we do this I'll explain shortly.

The muscle test:

For this test, the client holds their arms up in front of them (anterior deltoid test) and I ask them to 'hold'. Then I apply only about 1-2 kilos of pressure for 2 seconds. This pressure is registered by the spindle cells inside the muscle, whose job it is to pass this information on to the motor part of the spinal cord, causing a reflex contraction of the muscle being tested.
I've just tested the feedback between the proprioceptors of the muscle and the Central Nervous System (CNS) to see whether the neurological flow is stable (the person can hold their arm in the testing position and the muscle is perceived as 'strong') or whether some stress has interfered with it (the muscle gives and is 'weak').
Let's say the person can hold up their arms easily – no problem. Now I ask them to think about their upcming exam while I perform the test again: This time the muscles unlock ('go weak') instantly.

What's happened?.
Because of the muscular system's connection to the nervous system and subconscious realms, the biofeedback obtained is amazingly sensitive and almost unlimited: The client recalled an unpleasant memory of a stressful exam he had before, and the very thought of the next upcoming one is causing stress - and an unlocking arm (even though he is muscularly very strong).
This access into realms of the subconscious (to learn more about it click here to link to article), which can process a vast amount of information, is one of the most powerful aspects of kinesiology. To learn how emotions and muscles interact, click here

In this way I use Kinesiology to test for a wide variety of topics for each client, such as physical, nutritional, energetic, emotional, mental or spiritual health aspects.

Through kinesiology I can also tune into the connection between the physical body and its energy systems (e.g. meridians of Chinese acupuncture, the Chakra's or other energetic aspects) that are recognised by eastern health sciences and/or modern physics and information medicine
